Building
a reliable Sniper II on the cheapby Thumper 11.14.2008
wgps inlines & ergos = solid performers. I shot a fairly stock 2k1 sniper II w/ unireg for a number of years, and a near stock wgp '94 w/ unireg for the decade before that. Both shot 95% as well as anything I shoot now - and frequently better. I still swear by my old magic 8 ball sniper II (big bear currently owns). But as anyone will tell you, that last 5% costs out the wazoo... and the majority of that 5% is for lack of anything better to do. if you want my advise on a reliable sniper 2 in the < $200 range,
Stick w/ a 1998 to 2001 RF body. WGP took off just enough aluminum. 93 to 97 = as reliable, just heavier. Stick w/ a cheap pump kit (not vendetta or wwa). I personally use stock WGP stuff. No problems, ever. CCM Delux: great kit, but does not up the reliability. Regs : try and get a PPS a male or female stab. Used is normally better. If not, WGP inlines are decent, but not very consistant. Avoid on-offs / drops and mcroline. (orings and plastic = failure points) (An Old duckbill bottom line and steel braided hose will double your reliability) Avoid half blocks (ok, so I know i'm stepping on toes) - they just take too much tweaking to keep "right". AT : lowers reliability. (but fun for a while, and occasionally handy. I pulled ALL of mine off. I can see having AT on a marker I own, but not on my main pump.) Frames : anything you like except the WGP plastic frames... plastic breaks. Pot metals also wear out after a few years unless babied. --------------------------------- Phychoballistics : I wouldn't. ever. Sample configurations
